The Giau Pass is stunning mountain pass located in the Dolomites of Northern Italy. A. Sunrise at Giau Pass

The Giau Pass is one of the best places to watch sunrise, particularly during summer months like july. Early morning as the sun starts to rise, you can see beautiful colors fil sky, turning everything a migical shade of pink and orange. One side of the pass the grass stays a vibrant green because it’s shaded and doesn’t recieve direct sunlight. This lush green looks fresh and alive. The Giau Pass is high up in the mountians so you will have to take a road which winds its way up. There are few ways to reach.

A. Personal Vehicles and Parking:

You can easily access it via Cortina d'Ampezzo or Selva di Cadore, among other nearby towns. The road is curvy and steep but has great views. At the top, there are places to park so that you can stop and explore.

B. Shuttle Buses:

You can also use the bus service from Cortina d'Ampezzo or Alleghe during summer. The bus will take you at the Giau Pass, and you can walk uphill to enjoy the view.

C. Bike and Cycle

Giau Pass is another pass that bikers or cyclist can cycle completely uphill. It is a bit hard to get up because of the uphill climb, but bikers or cyclist just love the adventure and the scenery around them.

The best time to visit Giau Pass really depends on your preference! During summer -from June to September-the weather is cool and ideal for some hiking, biking, and picnic trips. You get to see flowers blooming, meadows green, and the sunrise. If you love snow, winter-just from December to March-is the best time because the mountain will be in a covering of snow and you can ski, snowboard, or even go snowshoeing. During spring, from April to May, it is enjoyable when the snow melts, and flowers start to bloom. Autumn, from October to November, is also pretty nice. The leaves change to orange and red, and it's very quiet. That said, Giau Pass is great to visit all year round, depending on what kind of adventure you're looking for!

Hiking and Explore mountain huts

You can go on some amazing walks, called hikes, and there are just so many routes you can take to explore the mountains. One really cool hike leads you to Rifugio Avarau, this tiny mountain hut where you can stop and have a snack inside and enjoy the view. Then there is this other route that takes you to Rifugio Nuvolau; this has a great place where you can take a rest and take a look at what's around you, viewing really stunning scenery. Really great spots for photo ops!

B. Biking and Cycling
